Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

Know what to expect before beginning therapy.

At The Sassy Shrink, we believe you should understand the cost of your care before getting started.

Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who are uninsured or choose not to use insurance for their care have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of healthcare services.

What Is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate is a written estimate of the anticipated charges for your care.

If you're paying privately for therapy, your estimate will outline the expected cost of your services, including anticipated session fees and other applicable charges.

An estimate is not a bill or a guarantee of the final cost of treatment.

When Will I Receive One?

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate:

  • When you request one, even if you haven't scheduled an appointment.

  • When you schedule services at least three business days in advance, within the applicable federal deadlines.

You can request a Good Faith Estimate at any time before receiving care.

What If My Bill Is Higher Than Expected?

If your final bill is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the charges through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

You can learn more about your rights at www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
